University Medal for Bowral High Alumnus

The school was delighted to hear recently that one of our alumni and the school dux of 2011, Rebecca Staats, has been awarded the University Medal for her double Honours Arts Degree in Anthropology and Archaeology at Sydney University. Her thesis, on landscape, memory and identity in Ireland, employed research methods from both archaeology and anthropology. On Wednesday, 16th November, Bowral High School wowed parents and the community at the New Empire Cinemas with its annual Film Festival showcasing the achievements of Year 7 & 8 students. 2017 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2016, all NSW public schools will receive a 2017 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. 13 Students represented Bowral High School and the South Coast Region at the NSWCHS State Athletics Championships. The event was held at Sydney Olympic Park on 7-9 September. YEAR 7 SPEAK, ACT, LEAD CAMP launches our 40 DAY KINDNESS PROJECT (40DayKP) by making 600 birthing kits for the Birthing Kit Foundation of Australia. The Graduation for Nursing students was held at Liverpool Catholic Club on Tuesday 23 August. Graduating students from Bowral High School were Anna Isbester, Josie Prohm, Rufina Ferrer, Harriet Young and Maddie Lockhart. They have been studying Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care) as part of their HSC through Bowral Hospital and are now fully qualified AIN's (Assistants in Nursing) with 135 hours of clinical practice. Bowral High Athletes Excel

On Thursday 16 June, 100 BHS students traveled to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra to compete at the Zone Athletics Championships. The weather was kind and we saw some fabulous performances with more than 50 students qualifying for the South Coast Regional Athletics Championships. Special mentions go to Kaleb Bell of year 9, Toby Croudson of year 11 and Matthew Vine of year 12 who were crowned Zone Age Champions for their respective age groups. In April each year the Children's Book Council of Australia gathers together all the books written in Australia by Australian authors that are aimed at children 1 – 18 years of age and determines which ones deserve to be recognised with an award. Bowral's Got Talent 2016 !!

Join us Wednesday night for a celebration of the talent within our Bowral Community of Schools, featuring performances by 200 students from our partner primary schools and Bowral High. The school swimming carnival was held on 9 February. Many students made the effort to get dressed up in their house colours and were involved in either novelty or competitive events.
