Showcase 2017

Stage 4 students have been busy in their project classes this semester. To celebrate their work we are holding a Market Stall Showcase. 2018 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. The Interact goal of raising $20,000 for our Cambodian Sister school is being supported and shared by the SRC, The Interact Club, and the members of the recent trip to Cambodia. This will make our goal easier to achieve and gives an opportunity for the students to help a cause that many of them feel emotionally attached to. NDIS continues its roll out across NSW

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. The NSW government is writing to the families of children and young people with disability who currently receive disability supports in the rollout areas to advise how and when they will enter the NDIS. Congratulations Eligh Morris Year 12 2017

Eligh represented BHS in the schools National Cross Country. He hopped off a plane from Italy after running in the world mountain running championships in which he came 36th then onto one to Tasmania where he placed 5th in Australia, in doing so he received a gold medal for the team. Then two day laters he received a silver in the relays - all whilst battling jetlag! What a display of sportsmanship!... Read more

NASA Update: Congratulations Year 8 STEM Class

The Bowral High School year 8 STEM class has successfully dispatched their experiments to the United States for launch into space by NASA. Blast Off to Space Research. On Friday 19th May, Miss Morthorpe took Year 11 students Hayden Koek, William Koek, Bridget Moore, Alex Paviour and Sophie Hall to participate in the "Speaking 4 The Planet" public speaking and drama competition. This was run by the Wingecarribee Shire Council, however is a larger competition run in secondary schools to recognise and celebrate World Environment Day, a day which is endorsed and supported by the United Nations Environment Program. P&C Building Fund

The Bowral High School P&C Building Fund allows parents and community members to make tax deductable donations to the school to support building projects. In the past we have used these funds to construct a covered student walkway, a covered area over the student window and a student change room and toilet in Hospitality. We are seeking donations now to support projects including the canteen upgrade and another outdoor learning area in the school. Donations can be made to the Finance Office. Measles Outbreak In Western Sydney

There is currently an outbreak of measles in South Western and Western Sydney, with at least 10 people having acquired the disease in the region during March. The reported cases include children and infants who have attended childcare centres and secondary schools. There is potential for the measles outbreak to spread further as the infected young people have large social networks both within and outside of their schools, and some have travelled on public transport whilst infectious. NSW Junior Chess League - Round 1 Bowral HS were proud to host local rivals Moss Vale HS in what was the first time the two schools had met in the statewide chess knockout competition. Both schools made their NSWJCL debut last year without making it past the first round of the main competition, so history was to be made for the victors. The introduction of the revised Healthy School Canteen Strategy increases the availability of healthy food and drink options in school canteens to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. It replaces the Fresh Tastes@School Strategy in NSW schools that was commonly known as the traffic light system. In April 2015 a week before her 28th birthday Korina suffered with " Toxic Shock " due to a terrible bacterial infection. There was no reason , no cause as to why this happened to her, the hospitals ran so many cultures and blood tests, these all came back negative.
